The picture just does not do the original justice in any way. The original is 16x20 gallery wrap with a base of metallic paints that I have glazed oils over. This give the color a shimmer that can not be described or seen in this image or any print. Normally I say to people, if you cant afford a painting, I always offer prints. And while I do intend to eventually offer prints of this, at the moment I really want the original to go to someone who understands that they are getting something that no one else will ever experience.  The color shift on the shell as the light changes over the course of a day is something not to be seen, but experienced.

"Tranquility" is currently available at Mindworks Gallery in Chesterfield, MO.

First of all I want to thank everyone who made it out for the Art and Craft show this weekend. It was an amazing time and great to see so many of you. But a 3 day show is nothing if not an endurance trial, and I have been playing catch up and slipping in and out of a coma all week. That aside, look for a major update to the site in the next few days, as well as a ton of new work for the holidays!
Until then have a great morning!

Its been a crazy busy month, and it being my favorite month, with my favorite holiday I thought I would share two of the new works now available at Twilight Comics in Shiloh, IL.These paintings are continuing my exploration of texture that I have been really getting back into as of late. It used to be a big thing for meas late as two years ago, but having creative tourettes, I moved on to other things for a while and have now remembered why I spent years painting thick, or on a pre-textured surface. Its just TOO much fun. : )

For more Info be sure to check out the Store section of the the site. More cool stuff to come this weekend so keep a lookout!

Pumpkin Path
Ahh...Fall is in the air...
Well actually it was in the air,  and then spring arrived.... and drowned all of the fall leafy smells...and it seems half the city too. Seriously, the streets are starting to look a bit flooded. But my point still stands. Despite the rain, fall has arrived ( or at least its pulling into the station) and this is my favorite time of year.

The above image was a breakthrough piece for me a few years back that I am very proud of. I actually painted this piece after an afternoon of pumpkin picking right before I stood in front of the canvas and put this down in one sitting.(The original is now in a private collection, but prints are available.)

Actually, a lot of my work is actually sketched out in the fall, and then created over the course of the year. The reasons for that I will get into tomorrow. But I usually go through a creative explosion right about now that allows me to fill the sketch book with enough pages to let me to spend the next 10 or 11 months bringing those ideas to life. So trust me when I say,  the next two months are going to be awesome.

Brisk Wind
My apologies for not clearing the dust around here faster. I am currently trying to redress and update no less than 3 websites with a fourth on the way. And the work is like that ball of food when your feeling kinda sick that just gets bigger as you chew. I swear for every thing I get done on the to do list two more pop up. So hang tight everybody there is much more on the way. In the meantime let me tide you over with a new painting.

"Brisk Wind" is currently available exlusivly at Twilight Comics in Shiloh,IL. Head on over to the the store for more info. Prints are also available.

It sounds like there is a thunderstorm rolling in now so I am off for food and a nap, but will be back soon!

This is one of those paintings. The orginal is 18x36 oil on canvas available at Governor French Gallery, 219 West Main Street
Belleville, IL For more info contact me or call the gallery itself (618) 233-7542

Van Gogh Thoughts
Van Gogh Thoughts
I meant to post this much sooner in the week, but I have been terribly ill. Nothing serious, just your typical winter bug. That aside, I do have exciting news. I am very proud to announce that as of this week I have my work represented in Peridot the first of two new galleries in St. Louis.

Peridot located on Cherokee Street in St Louis is absolutely a go-to place for your art and handmade needs. The work they showcase includes jewelry, accessories, pottery, prints, handbags, wood block prints, repurposed furniture and findings.... they have got it all.

From their site :

"We opened Peridot with the goal of providing a venue for local artists to sell their wares. We knew of so many talented artists who simply lacked a place to get their art to the public, so we stepped in to create it.

We are proud to represent almost 80 of the most talented people we've had the pleasure of meeting in the area. In growing our business, we have had the opportunity to get to know and love our family of artists, and just could not be prouder of our little shop!"

Open Monday through Saturday from 10-4 Peridot is quickly becoming one of the keystones in an art community that is doing nothing short of exploding in the St Louis area.
The above image entitled "Van Gogh Thoughts" is just one of many images that can currently be found at Peridot. For a peek at the original works that are there check out the Original Paintings section of the store, or give them a call, and stop by.

Mother Nature
Mother Nature
Sorry to have been so absent the last few days, I have been terribly under the weather, although work has continued and I have news. Another big news announcement is coming this Monday! In the meantime, I have been working on new images for a few different ventures and I thought I would go back and revisit an image that I created a few years back as a commission, to see what I would do different today. Turns out, a lot. Still, this is just a quick sketch, a finished version needs much more refinement. Check out Mother Nature. The original is below.
