<![CDATA[artmonkeyworld.com - News]]>Tue, 22 May 2012 03:26:45 -0600Weebly<![CDATA[Gamerstable Star Wars Caricatures]]>Mon, 21 May 2012 03:51:25 -0600http://www.artmonkeyworld.com/2/post/2012/05/gamerstable-star-wars-caricatures.html
Sorry to have disappeared from posting news updates on the site for the last few weeks. I unfortunately became quite ill due to a ruptured blood vessel. And while this did allow me to do an absolutely outstanding impression of Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday, it prevented me from doing much else. However I am feeling much better now and am currently playing catch up with the world.

This year's Free Comic Book Day at Twilight Comics was the best year yet! I would sincerely like to extend another huge thank you to all the amazing people at the shop who always bring together an excellent event.

I have also completed a few commission pieces since I last posted a news update. Not the least of which was the commission of several portraits of the cast of GamersTable.com in their Star Wars persona's.

As a gentle way to get back into the swing of things, I will be posting these images to the news section over the next several days. But for those of you who can't stand the suspense above is the banner image featuring all the players that I created for their facebook page.

Until tomorrow have a great day!

<![CDATA[Gamerstable Caricatures: Feast Thyne Eyes Edition!]]>Wed, 18 Apr 2012 04:11:15 -0600http://www.artmonkeyworld.com/2/post/2012/04/gamerstable-caricatures-feast-thyne-eyes-edition.html
Sometimes being an artist is ridiculously fun. In regards to my previous post about not being able to show art in progress until it is approved. This is a great example. I am unable to show you the portraits I am currently creating for the Gamerstable.com crew depicting them as Star Wars characters as they aren't done yet and I don't want to spoil the surprise, but I can show you the last ones I drew for them. The rest of the cast is after the jump:
All my lawyer tells me I am allowed to say about the next images for Gamerstable.com that I am creating is that they are Awesome. At least I think he was a lawyer I didn't have time to ask a lot of questions he said he had to hop a train. But he had all the books and everything behind him. Of course they were stacked in a shopping cart in front of the local White Castle....come to think of it, actually he may have been a hobo...but he offers sound advice!

<![CDATA[Loads of new images, cant post any of it.]]>Wed, 11 Apr 2012 01:45:45 -0600http://www.artmonkeyworld.com/2/post/2012/04/loads-of-new-images-cant-post-any-of-it.html
You know the one problem with creating logos and awesome websites for people? You can't post the progress pictures, you can only post the final approved designs. lol And that can take a while to get to.

But I can share this one with you tonight, this is the new logo for Fit Zone 161 a locally owned gym located here in the St. Louis area that is breaking ground this spring. As soon as they are up and running, and I have website and address info I will be sure to update you all!

Plain Field
"Plain Field" 8x10 available at Mindworks Gallery, Chesterfield, MO.
Honestly I give up trying to tell the differences between the seasons anymore. Its weather outside. Who knows what kind or when it will be at this point? Life has thrown me a few curve balls this month so I am well behind my goals for updating, but I finally have the Mindworks section of the store updated and the artwork organized a bit. So check that out while I attempt to get ready for a few big things I will be posting over the next few days.
Have a great morning!

<![CDATA[This ArtMonkey, will miss The Monkee, Davy Jones]]>Wed, 29 Feb 2012 15:51:29 -0600http://www.artmonkeyworld.com/2/post/2012/02/artmonkey-will-miss-the-monkee-davy-jones.html
I grew up listening to The Monkees. A lot of my sense of humor developed watching the show on Channel 11 in the evening after the Real Ghostbuster cartoons. Davy Jones passed this morning at 66. Needless to say The Monkees are on my playlist today. Thank you for the music.

<![CDATA["Tranquility" Sea Turtle now at Mindworks Gallery.]]>Fri, 24 Feb 2012 02:13:28 -0600http://www.artmonkeyworld.com/2/post/2012/02/tranquility-sea-turtle-now-at-mindworks-gallery.html
The picture just does not do the original justice in any way. The original is 16x20 gallery wrap with a base of metallic paints that I have glazed oils over. This give the color a shimmer that can not be described or seen in this image or any print. Normally I say to people, if you cant afford a painting, I always offer prints. And while I do intend to eventually offer prints of this, at the moment I really want the original to go to someone who understands that they are getting something that no one else will ever experience. The color shift on the shell as the light changes over the course of a day is something not to be seen, but experienced.

"Tranquility" is currently available at Mindworks Gallery in Chesterfield, MO.

None of us will ever know this level of Happy.
Not art related in the least, but I cant resist sharing this with you. This is my parents dachshund Marley. She is watching television and being tickled by my wife. Its moments like this that keep me inspired as an artist.

<![CDATA[Tomorrow, next week, two weeks, what's the diffrence?]]>Mon, 20 Feb 2012 21:50:31 -0600http://www.artmonkeyworld.com/2/post/2012/02/tomorrow-next-week-two-weeks-whats-the-diffrence.html
So I recently have been drowning in work. Good for Business, bad for blogging. However, I finally have enough of a cushion to get some new work posted and that's what I am now really taking the time to do.

First up is a company in Canada called "A Way With It Removal Services" It is a junk removal business to help remove unwanted items from the homes of the areas aging population. They asked for a friendly throwback to the era of cartoon pitchmen and smiling icons. The President of the company Bryan Reber is a great guy and now has a logo to match his personality. If you are in the Quebec area and need some stuff removed, look them up!

<![CDATA[Um...where the hell is Winter?]]>Fri, 03 Feb 2012 02:25:32 -0600http://www.artmonkeyworld.com/2/post/2012/02/umwhere-the-hell-is-winter.html
Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying this weather more than you can imagine, but I had a few snow paintings planned that I have put off now as its just impossible to paint snow when its a gorgeous 70 degrees outside.

In the meantime, I have been quietly making updates to the site that have yet to be published. Look for those to start rolling out over the next few days.I have some new work that I will be posting this weekend, and I have been doing some contract work for a local web design and ad firm that I will post links to as soon as it goes live. Not to mention my private commissions and design work. In short, I am EXHAUSTED. Very excited, but totally exhausted.

If January was my month to recuperate from 2011, then February will be the month that I kick it off with a bang. Come back tomorow for more!
Have a great night!
