Here is the newest oil painting available at Twilight Comics in Shiloh IL now! Brian, the owner said a better title might be "Mhmm...Candy Cane..." I am inclined to agree. : ) For more info on this head over to the store now! ~ArtMonkeyWorld Dave
Sometimes being an artist is ridiculously fun. In regards to my previous post about not being able to show art in progress until it is approved. This is a great example. I am unable to show you the portraits I am currently creating for the Gamerstable.com crew depicting them as Star Wars characters as they aren't done yet and I don't want to spoil the surprise, but I can show you the last ones I drew for them. The rest of the cast is after the jump:
This is a quick poster I put together for a Sketch Comedy Podcast I do artwork for called F'd Up In Middle America. This is for their Halloween special. Listen to the show here, but be warned its language is very NSFW. Hysterical. But NSFW. ~ArtMonkeyWorld Dave
Well someone had to say it. :D In celebration of the series I present all my currently available artwork featuring a cardinal bird. Here's hoping that I have a reason after tonight to paint a wholebunch more for the Kay Webber Art and Craft show in November! This Painting is currently available at Mindworks Gallery in Chesterfield, MO. For more info on this and the paintings below, check out the ArtMonkeyWorld original paintings store here.
Its been a crazy busy month, and it being my favorite month, with my favorite holiday I thought I would share two of the new works now available at Twilight Comics in Shiloh, IL.These paintings are continuing my exploration of texture that I have been really getting back into as of late. It used to be a big thing for meas late as two years ago, but having creative tourettes, I moved on to other things for a while and have now remembered why I spent years painting thick, or on a pre-textured surface. Its just TOO much fun. : )
For more Info be sure to check out the Store section of the the site. More cool stuff to come this weekend so keep a lookout! ~ArtMonkeyWorld Dave
Just a quick sketch after viewing tonight's episode of Doctor Who. This wasn't anything I had planned on working on, but the image, and another one just wouldn't leave my minds eye until I put them down somewhere. Although I think I may have a place for the other image... let me sleep on it, and see what I think tomorrow.
So funny story....this was a piece that I created about a year or so ago as an homage to two of my favorite things, Doctor Who, and Dr. Seuss. Specifically the episode "The Empty Child" written by current show runner Steven Moffat.
Earlier this summer, at the North American Discworld Convention Art Show, writer Neil Gaimen, surprised everyone by showing up and signing artwork and prizes to be auctioned for charity later that night. (Incidentally he wrote my favorite episode of the Matt Smith's current run on the show called "The Doctor's Wife". Yes I am a GEEK. What of it?
Now I am a bit fuzzy on details from this point on...but as I understand it, somehow he saw a small thumbnail of this image and openly professed his love for it to the coordinator of the art show. Apparently it's his favorite episode too. He wanted very much to sign the print and have it auctioned as part of the lot of work that was going up that night. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances I had been unable to get my work to the show, and the actual print was not there.
Erin Prindiville the show coordinator however promised him a copy, called me, and I mailed her two ASAP. One for Neil, and one for her, as a thank you for not only getting a copy of this to Neil through his entourage, but also for giving me the coolest 6 Degrees of Doctor Who story ever.
Just thought I would share. :) I hope all is well with you guys, and will be updating the upcoming show calendar this week. Have a great night! ~ArtMonkeyWorld Dave
My apologies for not clearing the dust around here faster. I am currently trying to redress and update no less than 3 websites with a fourth on the way. And the work is like that ball of food when your feeling kinda sick that just gets bigger as you chew. I swear for every thing I get done on the to do list two more pop up. So hang tight everybody there is much more on the way. In the meantime let me tide you over with a new painting.
"Brisk Wind" is currently available exlusivly at Twilight Comics in Shiloh,IL. Head on over to the the store for more info. Prints are also available.
It sounds like there is a thunderstorm rolling in now so I am off for food and a nap, but will be back soon! ~ArtMonkeyWorld Dave
A lot of people ask me what kind of portraits I do. "I tell them really cool ones." I mean sure I can do a stuffy portrait of you in front of a fireplace, holding a book, in oil paint...but lots of people do those. How many people are willing to draw you as Elvis, a zombie apocalypse survivor, or a King and Queen? All this week I will be showcasing some of my favorite portraits because, well, why not? Until tomorrow have a great night! ~ArtMonkeyWorld Dave
